Webinar series on Combustion and Fire Science

This website gives an overview of current and past webinar series in Combustion and Fire Science that discuss cutting edge science and technologies.

Active Series

California Fire Science Seminar Series

This new online seminar series will cover the breadth of wildland fire research relevant to California and introduce researchers to new topics and research groups across the state. Topics will include fire weather, wildfire risk, fire ecology, remote sensing, emissions, fire dynamics, fire modelling and public health. Featuring many early-career researchers, this series is aimed at a highly interdisciplinary academic audience but is open to anyone interested in these topics.

SFPE Encore Series

A Webinar series that features talks for practising fire engineerings to advance their knowledge and skills.

CA Fire Science Consortium Webinar Series

The California Fire Science Consortium (as part of the Joint Fire Science Program’s Fire Science Exchange network) is a network of scientists and managers that strives to accelerate the awareness, understanding, and adoption of wildland fire science information by federal, tribal, state, local, and private stakeholders within ecologically similar regions. Our mission is to be an inclusive, neutral, customer-driven collaborative group that facilitates the flow of fire science information and dialogue.

Large Outdoor Fires & the Built Environment Working Group Webinar Series

The ‘Large Outdoor Fires & the Built Environment’ working group will address problems with key phenomenological shared characteristics relevant to urban fires, and wildland-urban interface (WUI) fires, wildland fires as well as informal settlement fires.

Information on how to join will be posted here in the future:  https://iafss.org/committees/large-outdoor-fires-the-built-environment-working-group/

UQ SFPE Student Chapter

The main initiative of the UQ-SFPE Student Chapter is to organize seminars to promote continued learning outside the classroom and as a mean for fire safety industry professionals to interact with the SFPE students researching and studying fire safety.

The below link will soon (stand: 11/18/2020)  contain registration links for upcoming talks and recording of past talks.

WUIVIEW Webinar

The main aim of the WUIVIEW project is to design, setup, test and operate a virtual workbench service for the performance‐based analysis of fire environments in the surroundings of buildings at the wildland‐urban interface. The WUIVIEW action will develop an innovative risk management tool that will help WUI communities adapting to face the new generation of forest fires that have already arisen due to climate change. In line with the WUIVIEW dissemination program, we have scheduled a series of three webinars to present our results, and encourage discussion on WUI fire-fighting, fire prevention and fire analysis at the property level.

Past Webinar Series

PyroLife 2020 Webinar Series: Towards an Integrated Fire Management

The goal of this symposium is to create new international links across scientific fields and disciplines, in order to get a better view on what Integrated Fire Management should look like across Europe and internationally. While this symposium represents the scientific kick-off of the Pyrolife ITN training network, researchers and interested parties from other institutes are warmly invited to watch this symposium, to allow broader and deeper connections to take root.

International Association of Wildland Fire Webinars

The IAWF irregularly hosts its own webinars about different aspects of wildland fires.

Fire across Boundaries Webinar Series

The Association for Fire Ecology (AFE) and Pau Costa Foundation (PCF) are partnering with Regione Toscana and University of Florence to host a conference in Florence, Italy for diverse stakeholders involved in wildfire management. Experts from Europe and around the world are invited to gather in Florence to share fire ecology science and expertise. This conference will be a meeting point for international wildfire and landscape managers, scientists, policy makers, communicators and other representatives from national, regional and local organizations. Save the date and join us in Florence, October 2021!
